Psychotherapy
My experience has taught me that listening deeply to what is going on, and making space for it to be expressed and understood, is the foundation of growth and change. Life in today’s world tends to happen at a very fast pace, and so in therapy, I invite you to slow down, pause, and get curious about what you're really thinking, feeling and experiencing.
As you expand your self-awareness, you’ll start to gain insight into the patterns that keep repeating in your life. At the same time, this work will grow your capacity to be with challenging emotions, enabling you to respond rather than react. In time, you’ll find you have greater choice and flexibility about how you meet whatever life throws your way. Sessions can involve talking and exploring thought patterns, as well as working with the body and the nervous system, and listening to your intuitions and dreams.
I also pay attention to what's going on between us, as it can help us learn about how you show up in relationships and direct us towards some of your deepest wounds. This aspect of the work can sometimes be hard, but it’s also potentially transformative. Your relationship with me is a place you can try out expressing how you really feel, and have a go at breaking out of old patterns.
Our modern world likes things to be linear, but life - and human beings - aren’t like that. If you come for a while, you’ll find that therapy twists and turns, and we’ll revisit thought-patterns and emotional states from different directions, and at different levels of depth. Over time, this embeds real, lasting change. That’s why you’ll hear me refer to therapy as a spiral. Not in the ‘I’m spiralling’ sense of the word, but meaning the cyclical wisdom of what happens when you start really listening to yourself, and letting your deeper needs and desires unfold.
